Derek’s guest this month is Caz Tricks, major player on the local theatre scene, with a fascinating past in the arts. Hear about her life, see her photos, and listen to her favourite music.

Saturday, 13th (10.00 – 4.00pm): York House Arts for All

FREE family arts event – just drop in and create something to add to the theme of “Beside the Seaside”. Materials provided.

Saturday, 13th (8.15 – 10.30pm): Just One Alberto

If you enjoyed the outlandish and zany performances of Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias (remember “Head Down No-Nonsense Mindless Boogie”?) then front-man, CP Lee’s, one-man “tribute” involving a ukulele, will be just for you.

BBC   Radio          2        Folk  Award         Nominees  2017                     Ninebarrow are a multi-award-winning folk duo, who are impressing audiences across the country with their innovative and captivating take on the folk tradition.

Saturday, 20th (8.00 – 10.30pm): A Pointless Quiz for York House

The team with the fewest points wins. Following the format of the TV show but with all team answers. Teams of up to six – best to book your slot.

Sunday, 21st (2.00 – 3.30): The Women’s Land Army in WW1.

In the Beechey Room (rear entrance).

Hear about the quite incredible contribution made by this oft-forgotten, overlooked ‘Army’ of women who, during The Great War years were recruited mainly from towns and cities to work on the land; often for the first time in large numbers. 

Saturday, 17th (noon – 10.00pm): Oktoberfest

Third return of MK Biergarten’s big Oktoberfest at York House. Special Bierfest German beers, and English real ale bar, pretzels, dirndls, and  – of course – an oompah band.
