Breathwork Fundamentals
Wed 9 Oct 2024
The way we breathe can have a profound impact on multiple aspects of our Physical and Mental Health. The impact of our stress-fuelled lives means that breathing patterns are becoming shallower and faster, negatively affecting our nervous systems and overall health. In recent years, science has revealed that optimising our breath can enhance pivotal areas of our life, including:
- Improving sleep
- Reducing stress levels
- Promoting emotional balance
- Boosting concentration levels
This 4-week course will introduce you to core Breath-Body-Mind practices (www.breath-body-mind.com), giving you tools to enhance, slow and deepen your breathing. The Breath-Body-Mind programme of breathwork and movement practices was developed by Dr Richard Brown, Associate Clinical Professor in Psychiatry and Dr Patricia Gerbarg, Assistant Clinical Professor in Psychiatry. The practices unite evidence-based science with ancient wisdoms, blending elements of pranayama, qigong, meditation and relaxation with core breathing patterns.
