Learn To Sew with Afehia Ijaz – TWO WORKSHOPS

Sat 7 Feb 2026

10:00 AM - 01:00 PM

Saturday 7th February – Room 2.3 upstairs

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 90-minute sewing workshop is a friendly introduction to the basics of using a sewing machine. You’ll learn how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin and practise a few essential seams, before putting your new skills into action by making a simple finished item – either a handy pin cushion or a small purse – to take home. No prior experience is needed and there’s nothing to bring, as all materials and equipment are provided.

The workshop runs twice on the same day (two separate events, not a follow-on): one session at 10am and a repeat session at 11.30am, making it easy to choose the time that suits you. Suitable for ages 11+, the session is led by Afehia Ijaz, a youth and community worker with a passion for sewing and teaching the fundamentals, and you’ll leave with practical knowledge of sewing machines plus the confidence to set one up and sew a few seams independently.

This session is free, but booking is essential
