Management

York House Centre is managed by a team of volunteer Trustees with the assistance of 4 part-time members of staff. 

The Trustees meet monthly to discuss the running of the building and to plan and implement our future development.  Trustees each take the lead on one or more ‘Portfolios’ e.g. Marketing, Volunteer Liaison etc. 

Appointments are made at AGMs or by co-option between AGMs with the approval of the other Trustees.

Mission Statement

At York House Centre we aim to serve and nurture our community.  Our mission is to promote, enable and facilitate a wide variety of inclusive activities in order to improve the lives of the people, both residents and businesses, of Stony Stratford and the surrounding areas.

We aim to manage and continually update our building and grounds to provide high quality facilities in a welcoming setting accessible to all, particularly those who are disadvantaged, vulnerable or who face difficulties otherwise accessing appropriate facilities.

We will maintain our independence as a membership organisation, thereby owned by and accountable to the community, through sound management and sustainable financial planning.

York House may be standing on the strength of its bricks and mortar but it is the strength and spirit of our people and our community that shapes what we stand for. This is what makes our house a home.

At York House Centre we have a specific set of values that apply to all of our relationships; from our regular users groups, charities, self-help groups, community projects and corporate room bookings, through to birthday parties, events and celebrations held on site.

We believe in teamwork based on trust both in and around York House Centre.

We value partnerships and working with others to achieve our aims: individuals and organisations; staff and volunteers; public, private and voluntary groups.

The spirit of collaboration runs through every activity, event, meeting and celebration held at York House Centre. An event held at York House should be as unique as our venue and we will go above and beyond to achieve this.

York House is our home, and a home is somewhere that everyone should feel safe, secure and comfortable. We understand that our local community is constantly growing.

We live in a diverse and vibrant community with people from all walks of life. At York House Centre we respect our heritage and celebrate our differences to serve the whole community.

York House is more than just its bricks and mortar. We provide more than just a space for the community, we want to actively nurture that sense of community. Through our own events, fundraising and our ongoing commitment to the activities of Stony Stratford and its residents and businesses, we aim not only to be located in the heart of our community but also to be the spirit of that community.
