From families and toddlers to older residents, our Centre supports health and wellbeing, live entertainment, creative arts, learning, friendship and community projects all year round. We are a registered charity and are reliant on the support of the community for all that we do. We receive no regular government or other external funding.

What are the plans for York House Centre
York House Centre has a rear extension that was originally a stable block when the house was built in 1850. However, due to the rear extension being made of lower quality materials to the main house, ground movement and inadequate foundations, specialist surveys have confirmed that it is unsafe. The extension is beyond economic repair, and also unstable and so unless taken down it will collapse and cause extensive damage to the rear quarter of the main building, disabled toilets, and boiler room.
Our plan is to take down carefully the majority of failed rear extension and make safe the surrounding areas, thus removing the threat of further damage to the main building. We will also
Create a dedicated disabled parking area with access into the building.
Build a new first-floor community room for hire.
Salvage and reuse bricks, windows and finishings where feasible to maintain the existing architectural vernacular.
